Yoga Gives Back Highlights

20.9.11

I want to thank everyone who participated in our Yoga Gives Back Global Event last Saturday. Also, a big thanks to those who couldn't make the class but donated to the cause! It feels good to come together and practice yoga while giving back to those in need.

What I love about the Yoga Gives Back organization is their passion for helping the women of India build sustainable lives for themselves and their families! This work crosses the bridge of empowerment through generations!

Again, if you would like to learn more, participate in the next event or donate, please visit, www.yogagivesback.org!

Yoga Gives Back!

"Yoga Gives Back is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and funds in order to alleviate poverty in India. We started in Los Angeles in 2007, determined to find a way for the US yoga community, which generates over six billion dollars per year, to help the poorest people in country that gave birth to yoga. Many charitable organizations have emerged from within the yoga community, but Yoga Gives Back specifically targets and supports our struggling sisters in India."

Gearing up for an amazing event held on September 17th, 2011!

The Power of Micro Finance!

16.7.11

Recently, I've been asked to be part of the Yoga Gives Back organization serving as Regional Representative in Sweden. I'm sincerely honored and humbled to align myself with the powerful work YGB supports in uplifting the lives of those stricken with paralyzing poverty in India. In the future, I'll be posting more information and videos centered around the great work being done. There's nothing better than paying forward all the blessings bestowed through the practice of yoga. Truly!

Above, is a video highlighting the beauty of micro-finance from the man who started it all, Nobel Peace Prize recipient, Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

Now, through the inspiring vision of Kayoko Mitsumatsu, the president of Yoga Gives Back, she has expanded this vision to the woman of India inspiring those who practice yoga to be involved.

Yoga STOPS Traffick

11.3.10

YOGA STOPS TRAFFICK is a one-day global Yoga event to raise awareness about human trafficking in India and arcross the world.

On MARCH 13th 2010 Yogis everywhere will roll out their Yoga mats to take a stand against trafficking and show their support to its millions of victims.

Kicking-off from the grounds of the Mysore Royal Palace, YOGA STOPS TRAFFICK INDIA will be led by a group of young people from local anti-trafficking organisation Odanadi Seva Trust, many of whom are survivors of slavery, domestic abuse and forced prostitution. Over the years Astanga Yoga has come to play a vital role in their rehabilitation program: building their physical and mental strength, restoring a sense of peace, confidence and self-worth.

Get involved by organising your own YOGA STOPS TRAFFICK event at your local yoga centres, living rooms, parks or any other public spaces – just use your imaginations.

To request more information, promotional materials, fundraising suggestions or to find out more about Odanadi please contact Sean Cleere or Sarah Harris at yogastopstraffick@gmail.com. Or just visit our website www.odanadi-uk.org.

Practice for the Children Pendants!!!

3.12.09

Designed by Lena
"Acts of sacrifice, charity and penance purify even the great souls. Charity is for the purification of the heart; when given to suitable persons, it leads one to advanced spiritual life."

(Bhagavad-gita)

Okay, everybody! My inspiration. The one who shoots me rays of sunshine over cyberspace. Tracy! An absolutely amazing woman. I so enjoy sitting back and seeing what she will come up with next, and she NEVER disappoints.

Being a passionate supporter of charitable causes in India, her current project is coined "Practice for the Children Pendants." By purchasing the following pendant in honor of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, proceeds go the following charity Operation Shanti.

Operation Shanti Envisions...

A world in which the poor are given the opportunity to reach their full potential in life.

Spreading peace, goodwill, and hope throughout our world by helping the poorest and neediest gain status and their rightful place in their societies is the vision of Operation Shanti. Often, the poor are robbed of their human rights, are discarded, treated inhumanely, or are ignored. The ultimate goal of our work strives to give the poor back their rights as human beings.

Operation Shanti's Mission is...

To directly improve the lives of exploited, at-risk, destitute children and the forgotten, suffering elderly, enabling them to become "beacons of light" and share the same gifts of peace, goodwill, and generosity with others for the rest of their lifetimes.

We help the poorest and neediest children and elderly, and the forgotten destitute, with the basic human needs: food, shelter, medical services and educational assistance. As we believe that every human can and should stand on his/her own, we are there to help the destitute begin to help themselves.

With such commitment, and undying selfless enthusiasm Tracy brings to this current project and to the children of Operation Shanti, I encourage those interested to click on the following link, to her blog, to purchase a pendant in honor of our dear Guruji, that will in turn better the lives of children this great charity touches. For only $34 USD. the pendant can be shipped anywhere in the world. So don't delay!

I say this because it comes from a heart, so big, I continually draw unlimited sources of inspiration from her. Dear Tracy!
