Lotus in Bloom

26.7.08

A journey brings us face to face with ourselves.

Is there any greater journey than love?

Sometimes home is just a feeling.

Did you know that a lotus flower bares fruit or a seed that one can eat? I had no idea...and it tastes wonderful. I tried it in soup that had a slightly sweet flavor...simply divine.

Several days ago we ventured out to see where they grow acres of lotus flowers. They were so beautiful. It was almost as if each flower was enticing me to take a picture of it...look at me!...look how I vibrate! I'm beginning to wonder what is more heavenly than a lotus flower at full bloom...

Tired & Uninspired

2.5.08

I feel blah. Well, I've been feeling blah and exhausted the last several days. Sometimes it feels as if my energy level can be a bit unpredictable. Last week, I felt an energy surge. I practiced every morning, and rode my bike every day for over an hour. This week, I still managed to practice. However, there was a daily struggle to get out of bed. Its been like swimming up stream...

Part of this lull in energy stems on a mental level. Which often tends to be more exhausting. I've been taking extra time to study and contemplate...with this stirring...I feel the inner resistance that comes with that. Its almost like a part of the old me is still trying to hold on...and it can feel uncomfortable, at first, to step into the new...into the growth, and expansion.

I love the universal representation of the lotus flower. From the muck...something extraordinary will bloom. No one said it was going to be easy. However, maybe it doesn't have to be that hard. All it takes is remembering...realizing...opening...experiencing...

I'll pull from this to gather inspiration...

"You are now in control of your life. You see, the ego is never in control. The ego is controlled by wishes for comfort and convenience on the part of the body, by demands of the mind, and by outbursts of the emotion's. But the higher nature controls the body and the mind and the emotions. I can say to my body, "lie down there on that cement floor and go to sleep," and it obeys. I can say to my mind, "shut out everything else and concentrate on this job before you," and its obedient. I can say to my emotions, "Be still even in the face of this terrible situation," and they are still. It's a different way of living. The philosopher Thoreau wrote: If a man does not keep pace with his companions perhaps he hears a different drummer. And now you are following a different drummer--the higher nature instead of the lower."
